Open Science
Free Access to Knowledge and Support for Research
Open Science is a modern approach to scientific research based on collaboration and the open sharing of data, information, and knowledge through modern technologies.
Its goal is to make all phases of research accessible not only to the scientific community but also to the general public, with an emphasis on transparency, reproducibility, integrity, and international collaboration.
Among other things, it seeks to enhance the credibility and effectiveness of research, accelerate scientific progress, and remove barriers to access to knowledge.

The Benefits of Open Science
- Credibility - Verifiable scientific processes increase public trust.
- Innovation— accessible data and tools accelerate problem-solving.
- Social impact —better education, higher-quality public services, and the fight against misinformation.
- Competitiveness— the private sector also uses public data in the development of new products and services.
- International cooperation— facilitates the resolution of global challenges.
- Inclusion— the public can participate directly in the research.
- Reproducibility —independent verification of results, fewer errors.
- Transparency of methodologies —eliminating the “black box” in experiments.
- Higher citation rates —open-access publications receive more citations on average.
- Interdisciplinary synergy —data sharing across disciplines leads to new approaches.
- Higher-quality meta-analyses —open datasets enable more comprehensive analyses.
- Efficiency and Acceleration of Progress —It removes barriers to access to knowledge and directly accelerates overall scientific progress.
What Is Open Access (OA)?
Open Access (OA), or in other words, open access, means free and unrestricted online access to scientific data, information, and knowledge—without infringing on copyright. OA journals undergo a rigorous peer-review process and maintain high academic standards. Open access also enables the reuse of research results.
OA’s philosophy is based on a simple idea: scientific research is largely funded by public funds, and therefore its results should be accessible to everyone.
Open Access is part of the broader concept of Open Science—a model that makes scientific research and data accessible to both the professional and general public, promotes open publishing, and facilitates the communication of scientific knowledge.
Benefits of Open Access
Open access benefits various groups:
- Authors - Faster Publication, Higher Citation Rates for Papers
- Readers —unlimited access to information, free tools for searching and working with full-text documents
- Teachers and students —no fees or permits required for the reproduction and distribution of documents
- Libraries —Reduced Budget Burden, Solutions to the Journal Price Crisis and Licensing Issues
- Universities— Greater Visibility of Research Results and Institutional Prestige
- Publishers and Journals —Greater Interest in Publishing, Visibility of Research Output
- Grant Agencies —Higher Return on Investment in Research, Higher-Quality and More Influential Publications
- Government— compliance with legal requirements; publicly funded results are publicly available
- Citizens —Access to Science Funded by Their Own Taxes
Open Access Publishing Methods
The author will publish the full text of the article in a public repository or on their own website. The repository infrastructure is developed by libraries, research institutions, and governments, and this process does not incur any financial costs for the authors.
Academic texts (monographs, conference proceedings, articles) are published online at no cost to readers or authors. This open-access model thus effectively removes financial barriers and enables the immediate and free dissemination of new scientific knowledge worldwide.
The content is free for readers; the author covers the article processing charge (APC). For scholarly monographs, the publisher will provide access to the peer-reviewed electronic full text.
Other models: Commercial publishers also offer hybrid, delayed, short-term, selective, or partial access, which generally involves selectively open content, with or without full OA permissions
