MVS (Interlibrary Loan Service) is a library and information service that allows library members to obtain documents not held in a given library’s collection from other libraries throughout Slovakia. More specifically, if, for example, a book or article that a user needs is not available in their home library’s collection, they can request to borrow the title or document (or obtain a photocopy of part of the document) from another library. This service enables the effective sharing of library resources nationwide and provides access to information even outside one’s own library.

Yes, if a reader cannot find the desired title in the TnUAD Online Catalog, they may request to borrow that document from another library within Slovakia. Based on the interlibrary loan request , the University Library will order the requested title and, upon receipt, will contact the user by email. The reader must come in person to pick up the borrowed materials at the TnUAD University Library. A user who has borrowed a document through the ILL service is required to comply with the terms and conditions and the loan period for the requested document as specified by the lending library. Any request to extend the interlibrary loan period must be submitted at least one week before it expires, and the University Library will request the extension from the lending library. The reader must return the borrowed materials to the TnUAD University Library.

The Interlibrary Loan Service itself is provided free of charge at the TnUAD University Library. Readers are only required to pay a handling fee in accordance with the the Price List of Services and Fees. When borrowing items from multiple libraries—that is, when the requested items cannot be borrowed from a single library—the reader is required to pay the handling fee multiple times, equal to the number of libraries from which this service is requested.
