A

Abstract - a self-published, short, concise description of the results of scientific or professional activity having at least 150 words.

Article – an author-independent, however content- and formally closed text published in a journal. An article contains an explanation of the subject matter being processed with elements of analysis and sufficient argumentation. It can be peer-reviewed separately.

Author's sheet (AH) - 36,000 print characters (20 standard pages, 1 page contains 1,800 characters), for poems 620 verses, for maps and graphic reproductions 2,300 cm2 (1 AH is approximately 48 cm × 48 cm in size, 3 AH 6,900 cm2 - approximately 83 cm × 83 cm in size), for audiovisual recordings published on the Internet or on physical media at least 60 minutes. 

C

Chapter – a typographically separated part of a book. It is a more considerable, independent whole work, which can be divided into subchapters, paragraphs, etc. Chapters have a separate title or are numbered. Depending on the type of the publishing activity, chapters are related to each other thematically and in terms of content. A chapter is usually not peer-reviewed separately.

Citation (bibliographic citation) - the inclusion of a relevant reference within the text or other form of content. A citation identifies the publication from which information is taken or paraphrased. If the same source publication is cited multiple times in one output of publishing activity, it is recorded as one citation.

Contribution – a text with closed content and form, which is published in a collection with its own title, without connection to the parts that precede or follow. It can be peer-reviewed separately.

Edited scientific book – is a collection of scholarly works on a specific scientific topic, compiled and organized by one or more editors. Unlike a single-author book, an edited book includes chapters written by different experts in the field. The editors oversee the selection, review, and arrangement of contributions, ensuring coherence and quality. Among the key attributes of such publications belong multiple contributors, editorial oversight, focused theme and reference work.

P

Poster from an event​​output of research or scientific work published on stands, boards or electronically during conferences (events), and subsequently published mainly in conference proceedings or a journal.

Proceedings – a collection of academic papers, presentations, or summaries from a conference, symposium, or workshop. They serve as an official record of the event and document the research and discussions presented. Individual parts of proceedings are not interconnected and may be written in one or more languages. It meets all the requirements of formal editing and publishing and is subject to a public distribution process. Proceedings are organized into the following groups: conference, non-conference, one-off and continuous. Other types of proceedings that can be registered as a publication activity include yearbooks, thematic and anniversary proceedings published on the occasion of a personal, institutional or social jubilee.

J

Journal – a periodical publication published regularly -- at least twice a year. If published electronically only, journals have ongoing updates within one year, a specific focus and editorial board. Journals are subject to a public publishing process, have all the requirements of formal and publishing editing, contain an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN), a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) or another standard number for the relevant type of publishing activity. A periodical publication with an assigned International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is not a journal.

R

Review – an article or contribution about the output of a publishing or artistic activity. It’s a type of research or art criticism focused on critical evaluation and reflection of a specific publication or artistic activity. The reviewer does not use any information from the reviewed work but evaluates the reviewed publication or a piece of art / artistic performance.

Review paper – a type of academic or scientific article that summarizes, analyzes, and synthesizes existing research on a specific topic. Unlike original research papers, review papers do not present new experimental data but instead provide a critical evaluation of past studies.

Scientific (encyclopedic) entry – a concise characteristic of a concept in professional terminological dictionaries and encyclopedias. It represents a complex of logically organized theoretical or practical knowledge about a certain fact obtained by scientific methods. It is expressed in a special lexicographic style, has at least three standard pages and a stated author.

Scientific monograph – a scientific work in one language by no more than three authors without an editor, which provides a comprehensive, coherent and systematic analysis of one topic, scientific problem or a part of the scientific field. Individual parts of a scientific monograph are interconnected. A scientific monograph integrates known knowledge, enriches it with previously unpublished results of the author's scientific work and presents conclusions. It is based on using a formal, structured, scientific style.

Scriptum – an educational document, which presents systematic review and interpretation of knowledge from a given field. It temporarily replaces a university textbook. The target group is a specific group of (university) students.

Textbooks for universities – a didactic tool of higher education, which presents a systematic interpretation of knowledge focused (usually) on one subject area and is related to a specific program of study. The target group or readers are students or employees of a university. Among the specific attributes of a textbook belong: correct summary of verified knowledge, systematic interpretation of information, relevant and formally correct presentation, latest information from the field of research, logical flow, and a list of used sources and recommended literature.

W

Workbook – a book or digital document that contains exercises, activities, and lessons designed to help users learn and practice a specific subject or skill. It is often used in education, training, or self-improvement. A workbook may thematically follow the textbook.
